Artist StatementThe themes of my recent work have been formed by my time spent working and living in Western Australia. The rich unique forms of the flora and the primordial power of the landscape made a lasting impression. The forces of nature were apparent in a direct, dramatic and emotionally powerful way. The snese of insignificance of being totally at the mercy of natural forces was overwhelming. Something I had not experienced since my childhood days walking and climbing in Wales.In recent work, the power of nature - with it destructive and creative forces are still a continuous source of inspiration. When making, I do not work directly from nature. Indeed in sculptural terms, it is not the appearance of nature that interests me.
